A Real Piece of Work

Welcome to Studio Disco, home of multi-hyphenate creative Nicci Disco. Currently focusing primarily on collage, Nicci's work mixes the energies of death doula and disco dancer into beautiful, haunting, and ambiguous meditations on humanity and the human condition. Sometimes gravely serious, other times delightfully cheeky, Disco's work often serves to provoke and subvert traditional American social institutions and challenges the viewer to envision new and different realities based in liberation, abundance, and magic. In true Scorpio fashion, sexuality, mysticism, and death are common themes.

Nicci Disco was born in Michigan in 1982 and raised in a fundamentalist, evangelical doomsday cult from which they escaped as a teen. They spent many years in the theatre and visual art communities of Atlanta, ran away to Europe for a few years in their 20s, cultivated a revolutionary queer bar in southern Indiana in their 30s, and has been somewhat haphazardly kicking around Los Angeles since 2020. In addition to their private artistic pursuits, Nicci is also a highly skilled event producer, director, and project manager as well as a moving queer wedding officiant -- please reach out via the contact page if you're interested in working with them in any capacity.
